Here are some interesting facts about Macedonian

In addition to being the official language in Macedonia, Macedonian is also a recognised minority language in parts of Albania, Romania and Serbia

Although some Bulgarian and Greek linguists still view Macedonian as a Bulgarian dialect, it is now widely considered to be an autonomous language.

Macedonian does, however, share a lot of similarities with Bulgarian and Serbo-Croatian. Depending on the geographical origin of the speakers the languages can be mutually intelligible.

The exact number of Macedonian speakers is a contested issue. It’s thought to be somewhere in between 1,6 and 2,5 million.
